COVID-19: President Nana Addo extends lockdown period by one more week

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his 6th address on Coronavirus update has extended the lockdown period to one more week to the initial two weeks lockdown and this starts from Monday, April 13, 2020.

The partial two weeks lockdown directive by the government was to help regulate activities and prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus but the tolls keep rising each and every day forcing the President to lock down parts of the country for one more week.

According to the President in his speech delivered some minutes ago, the decision to extend the lockdown by one week was made as a result of the “increasing positive cases which have totalled 378 with 6 deaths, the majority of the infections being community spread”.

No new regions were included in the lockdown. The President also urged all Ghanaians to abide by the lockdown order to help prevent the spread of the virus.
