Judicial Service’s statement, ill crafted and timed- GJA President, Affail Monney

The Ghana journalists Association ( GJA) has fiercely and fearlessly reacted to letter by judicial service requesting media houses to delete stories it describes as hateful and spiteful against justices of the Supreme Court.

The country’s judicial service had earlier issued a letter and statement ordering and requesting media houses to delete stories with hateful and spiteful words directed to the Apex Court’s justices.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, president of the Association, Mr Affail Monney described the service’s letter as an ill crafted, advised, timed and issued statement.

According to him, the statement by the judicial service if not reversed immidiately, can cause and provoke a tsunamic backlash, lower the dignity of the court in the eyes of freedom lovers and pollute the media environment.

Mr Monney believes that the threats by the service undermine the country’s media rankings globally and dim the beacon of it’s democracy.

” If not reversed immidiately, the ill advise, ill- timed, and ill architect, and ill crafted statement can cause and provoke a tsunamic backlash, lower the dignity of the court in the eyes of freedom lovers, and critical citizens, pollute the media environment, undermine our impressive media rankings and dim the of our democracy” He said.
