Legendary reggae and dancehall artiste Samini has criticized organizers of the Ghana Music Awards after crowning highlife sensation Kuami Eugene as the new artist of the year during its 21st awards night.
Kuami Eugene “shockingly” urged pass the likes of Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata, Kidi, Daina Hamilton to win the prestigious award for the first time. The announcement just like many Ghanaians came as a surprise to Samini too who rooted heavily for his former High-Grade student, Kofi Kinaata to win the artist of the year category.
“@KinaataGh you are still my Artist of the year son …I’m sure my bias stances Will be neutralized as a lot more people hold the same opinion but #VGMA has its ways of shocking us all sometimes 🤦🏾♂️ … sad but we #move ✊🏾 🙏🏾 #akyesaaaaaaaaa
@KinaataGh @KinaataGh @KinaataGh” Samini tweeted.
Kofi Kinaata with his hit song “Things Fall Apart” grabbed three awards on the night including the songwriter of the year award which he has received on a record three times since 2016 with his song Susuka, Confession in 2017.
